Advanced Eye Prosthetics is a patient-focused practice specializing in the fabrication and fitting of custom ocular prostheses (artificial eyes). Our mission is to restore confidence and quality of life for patients with eye loss through expert craftsmanship and compassionate care. We are currently seeking a dedicated and personable Medical Receptionist to join our team and help make a lasting impact on patients’ lives through specialized care and service.
POSITION SUMMARY
As the first point of contact, the Medical Receptionist plays a vital role in delivering an excellent patient experience. This individual will manage scheduling, insurance verification, and provide general administrative support to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Welcome patients and visitors warmly and professionally
- Answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries, and route calls appropriately
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments
- Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring HIPAA compliance
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits; collect payments and manage billing inquiries
- Assist with the coordination of travel arrangements and documentation for patients as needed
- Communicate clearly with patients regarding the ocular prosthesis process and timelines
- Support clinical staff by ensuring efficient patient flow and appointment preparation
- Perform administrative duties including data entry, filing, scanning, prescription requests, prior authorization requests, and correspondence
- As a small practice, our team members often share in tasks of maintaining office cleanliness and helping each other with responsibilities as needs arise.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Previous experience in a front desk position, preferably a medical office
- Familiarity with medical terminology; knowledge of ocular prosthetics a plus
- Proficiency with EHR systems and scheduling software
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication; Spanish speaking a plus
- Ability to engage with patients in a friendly and caring manner that helps them feel welcome and comfortable
- Ability to maintain professionalism and empathy when interacting with patients who have experienced trauma or surgery
